This finding gave me a good giggle last week: Blue zones are probably fake. Skepticism surrounding some regions’ ability to drastically exceed average life expectancy has been rife for a while. But a study by UCL researcher Dr Saul Justin Newman found “fundamental flaws in extreme old-age demographic research” suggesting records of people living well in their 100s are actually down to “clerical errors and pension fraud.”
